Introduction

Zendegi.Studio makes animated wedding websites: an invitation your guests open from a link, a website with your schedule, venues and details, and an RSVP that collects their replies. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website, to the wedding websites and invitations we host, and to the emails and text messages we send.

We handle personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Québec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

1. Who is responsible

Zendegi.Studio is published by Interaction Dynamics ("we", "our", "us"). Our person in charge of the protection of personal information answers every question and request about your information at contact@interaction-dynamics.io.

When a couple invites you as a guest, the couple (the "hosts") decides who to invite and what to ask. We process guests' information on the hosts' behalf, only to deliver their invitations, website and RSVP.

2. What we collect

From hosts (couples and their planners):

  • Your name, email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the profile picture that service shares with us.
  • The content of your wedding website: names, dates, venues, schedule, texts and photos you add.
  • Your guest list: guests' and households' names, and the email addresses or phone numbers you add to send invitations.
  • Payment details are handled by Stripe; we only see the amount, the date and the last digits of the card.
  • Messages you send us through "Get help" or "Send feedback".

From guests:

  • What the hosts entered about you (your name, and your email address or phone number if they send you an invitation).
  • Your replies: whether you attend each event, meal choices and dietary needs or allergies, and any message you leave for the hosts.

From everyone who visits:

  • Basic technical data needed to run and secure the service, such as your browser, device type, language and the pages you request.
  • Analytics data, as described in section 6.

3. Why we use it

  • To provide the service: create your wedding website, send invitations and reminders, collect replies and show the hosts their headcount.
  • To keep your account secure: sign you in, prevent abuse and fix errors.
  • To contact hosts about their account, their wedding and, where the law allows, what our paid plan adds; every such email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To understand how our public pages are used and improve them, within the choice you made about analytics.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

We use guest information only to deliver the hosts' invitations, website and RSVP. We never market to guests, we never sell personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

4. Sensitive information

Dietary needs and allergies can reveal health information or religious practice. They are visible only to the hosts of the wedding, are used only to plan it, and are deleted with the wedding.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Zendegi.Studio, under contracts that limit its use to the service they provide to us:

  • Vercel hosts the website and counts visits (section 6).
  • Neon hosts our database.
  • Mailgun sends our emails, including invitations and reminders.
  • Twilio sends invitations and reminders by text message, when hosts choose it.
  • Stripe processes payments.
  • Google and Apple sign you in, if you choose them.
  • PostHog measures how our pages are used and records errors (section 6).

Some of these providers store information outside Québec and Canada, mainly in the United States, where it may be accessed by local authorities under local law. Before we transfer information, we check that it will be protected adequately, as Law 25 requires.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to a buyer of our business, who would remain bound by this policy.

6. Analytics and cookies

  • Without your consent: we count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookie and keeps no identifier, and nothing else is sent to an analytics service.
  • If you refuse: PostHog counts your visits without cookies; your device keeps only a record of your refusal.
  • If you accept: PostHog uses cookies to recognise your browser, records how you use our public pages (with everything you type hidden) and may show you a variant of a page to compare designs. On your account pages we only record actions such as "wedding created", tied to your account number, never your name, your email or your guests' details.
  • Guests' pages: save the dates your guests open show no banner and keep no identifier.
  • Who and where: PostHog Inc. hosts this data in the United States under a data processing agreement, which sets out the safeguards for data transferred from Québec and the European Union; IP addresses are discarded and data is kept for 12 months.
  • Changing your mind: use "Cookie preferences" in the footer at any time.

We also use cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your language; they do not need your consent.

7. How long we keep it

  • Wedding websites and guest lists: as long as the host's account exists. Hosts can export and delete their wedding and guest list at any time; we delete it from our systems within 30 days, and from our backups when they expire.
  • Host accounts: until you delete your account.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require, usually six years.
  • Analytics: 12 months.

8. How we protect it

Information is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Only the people who need it to run the service can access it, and each guest link only opens that household's invitation. If an incident puts your information at risk of serious harm, we will tell you and the authorities, as the law requires.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you, and learn how it is used and who it was shared with.
  • Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Delete your information, or stop using it, when it is no longer needed.
  • Receive the information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Withdraw your consent, for example to analytics or to emails about our paid plan.

Write to us at contact@interaction-dynamics.io. We answer within 30 days, at no cost. Guests can also contact the hosts who invited them, who can correct or remove their information directly.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

10. Children

Zendegi.Studio is meant for adults planning a wedding. Hosts may add children to a household; we use their names only to show the invitation and count replies, as for any guest.

11. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell hosts by email or in the app before it takes effect.
